Girls Higher Secondery school destroyed in Swat

Three bombs went off in a Girls higher secondary school at Kabal last night, no one accepted the responsibility. The blast damaged the two storey building situated in the neighbourhood of Thesil and Kabal Police Station. More than one thousand students are reading in the school. The damaged building could not serve more. Kabal is a head quarter of Nikpi khel area on the right bank of river Swat at a distance of 10 km from Saidu sharif.

The School administration received threats of closing the school from unknown Taliban. Executive district education officer has also issued notification to all the head of girls schools to wear Burqa. The notification further stressed on girls students to wear burqa while coming to schools. The situation in Swat has been deteriorating since Lal Mosque operation.Suicide attacks on security forces, bomb blasts in Private properties and assassination attacks on the notable of the area is a routine of the day.

"This is a day of shame for us" sayes Baha an old man of Kabal. The school is closed for indefinite period. Many girls school are closed due to fear of bomb blasts. Female teachers are not attending their schools in Koza and Bara bandai. The students attendance in Public and private girls School is less than 50% says Education department officials.

The current wave of killing Female teachers in Momand Agency will also be a source of frustration for Female teachers in Swat.

The parents are worried about the current attacks on Female educational institutions. "It is a violation of basic human rights" says Aziz Ahmad a parent.
